Property Owners - Watch Out For These New Water Quality Rules! PDF Print E-mail

Here is a link to an excellent article on Oregon's new water quality rules, written by Oregon Senator Doug Whitsett of Klamath Falls:

Senator Whitsett's article is a must read for Oregon property owners.  It makes four very important points:

  1. State agencies (like the Environmental Quality Commission) have the power to adopt administrative rules which have the same force and effect as laws passed by the Oregon legislature, but with no actual accountability to the voters of the state;
  2. Agencies often elevate politics over science in the pursuit of a well-intentioned but scientifically flawed objective;
  3. Administrative procedures often provide very little opportunity for meaningful public input; and
  4. The EQC's new water quality rules will have a very negative impact on Oregon's economy at a time we can least afford it.

This is one of the best op-eds I have seen in years, on a subject that few people understand.  Please take the time to read it, and pass it on to other Oregon property owners.
